A new season ...

Moving into a new phase in life ... putting action into a vision I was given; fulfilling a dream I always had. It's exciting but scary at the same time. I know I will have to put in a lot of effort to make it work, but I know that God gave me the vision and He will give me the provision ... Thank you God!

Yet another trip to Sabah

I'm in the airport now waiting for the gate to open. It's my 4th trip to Kota Kinabalu since last CNY and I'm scheduled for another trip in March.

I do love that place, but now I'm wondering whether I'm going back too much.

Hope to have a great break there and seek God for His continued direction through this coming season.

Guess I'm gonna be spending lots of time at Starbucks putting plans & ideas to paper ... :)

Saving Christmas

To all who know my passion about media and religion, here's another great production that's worthy to be mentioned. :)

Buckhead Church, one of a number of churches under the covering of Andy Stanley from North Point Ministries, put together this short film called "Saving Christmas" that was screened during their Christmas services. It was divided into two parts, with the first part acting as a cliffhanger before the pastor of this church, Jeff Henderson comes on to give the Christmas message. Then after he finishes his message, the second part is then shown to conclude the film.

Interesting angle. Leveraging a pop culture medium to present a Christmas story that is relevant but yet retaining the traditional roots.

My first prayer in 2009 for the ministry

Dear God, thank you for the worship team in Bethany. Whether we call it 创艺事工, 崇拜部 or 敬拜赞美团, God our purpose is the same - and that is to worship you and to bring in your presence through worship.

Father, you see the effort, commitment and sacrifices all of us make in the ministry. Lord, we love you and we want to serve you with all we have, but sometimes it's just so difficult. Some of us lose our focus along the way, others are growing tired, and still others are not seeing the vision and destiny you have given us.

Father, I sincerely ask, please pour out a new passion into the team. Please give us a booster. Send more people into the team Lord, to ease the burden of your tired servants; give us a drink to refresh our souls.

Lord, please build a strong and anointed team of passionate and creative worshippers with great attitudes of service. Let our leaders be greater. Give them boldness, courage and leadership from above. Most of all Lord, show them your revelation - we want to be a ministry and a church that moves in revelation to make a difference in peoples lives and in society around us.

Father, we proclaim that 2009 will be the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:18-19)- that we will preach good news to the poor, proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, so that we can proclaim the year of Your favor.

Lord we also claim your promise that you will give us a double blessing in 2009. God, you said in Isaiah 61:7 that "because you got a double dose of trouble and more than your share of contempt, your inheritance in the land will be doubled and your joy go on forever."

God, different ones of us in the team have had our share of problems and troubles - we declare that we will inherit your promises and our inheritance will be doubled and our joy eternal!!

Dear God, you also see that there are signs of disunity in the ministry. Father, we renounce every misunderstanding, every hatred and every disunity right now. We want to build a strong ministry and the only way to do that is by unity in the team. The place of agreement is the place of power. A cord of three is not easily broken. Lord, please heal the broken relationships in the ministry.

Thank you Jesus, because you have come that all things would be possible. That all curses would be broken and no weapon formed against us shall prosper. We are looking forward to 2009 because you are able to do exceedingly and abundantly beyond what we can think or imagine.

Oh Lord!! We are excited to see what you have in store for us in this brand new year!!

Thank you and praise your for your goodness and mercy that are new every morning!!

In Christ most precious name we pray,
Amen!!!

Finding your anointing...

I've been trying to find my anointing.

Yes, there are things I do pretty well, things which come naturally to me, but that's different from the anointing.

In my view, the anointing is when "whatever you touch turns to gold" (A phrase my good friend Jessel used to describe my brother). It is when the simplest ideas and simplest methods produce extraordinary results.

It is the difference between good, great and awesome.

It is when the results make a difference in the world around you and have an unexplainable unanimous vote of positivity from every possible angle.

I know people who work with the anointing - some know it, some harness it, some deny it - but no matter what they say, the anointing is so obvious in their lives and the things they do.

The biblical definition of "anointing" is to "apply oil" which sounds kind of funny when you apply it to the things people do. However, the literal meaning in today's English language is "to choose or as if by divine intervention"

That's IT!! To find your anointing is to find the thing you do, that somehow always seem to have some kind of divine intervention. Now, I know, that's kinda hard to do.

I like a quote from Rev Tan Ye Peng (CHC), "The way to find your anointing is by putting in 100% in what you do from 9 to 5"

It is just to put in your best, in order for God to use you and bring you beyond your best. Once you have experienced how the anointing works, you'll be able to harness you anointing in whatever you do - consciously or unconsciously.

James 2: 14,18, 22-24 says,

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?
18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

It is not about how much we pray, how much we believe and how much we hope - it is about how we put our faith into action.

In the same way, finding your anointing is by putting your faith into action; doing the best you can in whatever you do, knowing that the Holy Spirit will intervene and bring you beyond your best!!

It takes something more ...

It takes something more for a person to be faithful ...
It takes something more for a person to carry on ...
It takes something more for a person to go the extra mile ...
It takes something more for a person to feel mistreated but still go on ...
It takes something more for a person to love people he doesn't like ...
It takes something more for a person to survive on faith ...
It takes something more for a person to build a strong inner man ...
It takes something more for a person to work under a weak leader ...
It takes something more for a person to make history in the midst of old mindsets ...
It takes something more for a person to get all the blame for the weaknesses of his leaders ...
It takes something more for a person to commit his life to serving in a place with a whole load of baggage no one is willing to get rid of ...

Do I have something more?

The new Apple Macbook

I can't believe it ... I'm supposed to be occupied with many things - Church Operations, Youth ministry, Creative Arts Ministry, Freelance teaching, Freelance Sound engineering ..... but something keeps bugging me almost every free (and busy) moment ...

I WANT AN APPLE MACBOOK PRO!!

I've got so many reasons for needing one.

Going through the 30 day rule now - wait 30 days before you buy something to minimise impulse buys .... Well, I've wanted a Macbook since forever, but the new Macbook was only released on Oct 14, so to be fair to my wallet, I'll wait another 19 days .....

I guess I already know what the answer will be ..... oh well ... a Christmas present for myself maybe?? haha ...

Time of Testing

I guess it's a time of testing ... time to re-aligning my focus ... time where no one else understands except God ... time where I gotta listen and do what He says ... time where the following words take on a new meaning ...

Faith
Humility
Patience
Faithfulness
Submission

These words never carried more weight than now ...

2 Obey the king's command, I say, because you took an oath before God. 3 Do not be in a hurry to leave the king's presence. Do not stand up for a bad cause, for he will do whatever he pleases. 4 Since a king's word is supreme, who can say to him, "What are you doing?"

5 Whoever obeys his command will come to no harm,
and the wise heart will know the proper time and procedure.

6 For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter,
though a man's misery weighs heavily upon him.

7 Since no man knows the future,
who can tell him what is to come?

Ecclesiastes 8:2-7

1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

9 What does the worker gain from his toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on men. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. 13 That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil—this is the gift of God. 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.

Ecclesiastes 3:1, 9-14

5 Those who sow in tears
will reap with songs of joy.

6 He who goes out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with him.

Psalms 126:5-6

I'm about 1500m above sea level now, marvelling at God's creation. I was just telling my mum, how can anyone live here and not believe there's a God? If anyone's wondering, try looking for me on Google Earth, my location according to my phone is ..... ok, just went out to get a GPS reading and it's totally fogged out. Visibly about 30m :) try searching for Mount Kinabalu Heritage Resort & Spa. Or a place called Kundasang.

Anyway, everytime I travel is a time for me to think and re-align my life. This trip is no different. Will probably post more when i get to use a proper computer, i'm like typing a really long sms on my phone now.

Oh, btw, to everyone, check out the new MacBook Pro on e Apple website! :)

I need wisdom ...

2 Chronicles 1:10 - Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?"

It's my first full week back at work since bible school .... it's actually quite challenging.

A few projects I completed at work during bible school now need to be updated and re-worked.

Work is piling up.

Many people have asked me - what is your job? What do you do? Are there really so many things to do in a church?

There are.

I need wisdom - to make the right decisions and to do the right things at the right time ....

Are you a threat?

I'm in Jakarta now on mission trip. The Spirit impressed me with a question last night while I was still in Singapore eating supper with one of my cell members.

Are you a threat to the kingdom of darkness?

Somehow the question stuck with me and I've been thinking about it the whole day; even on the flight here.

Does the kingdom of darkness tremble when you speak? Do your words cause demons to flee? Is your ministry and your service in the church raising fear among Satan's generals?

As I'm starting to go on more mission trips, I begin to think - Are my trips causing harm to the kingdom of darkness?

After graduating from Bible school just last week, I'm going through a period of prayer and re-organising my life and ministry; to re-strategize and cause havoc in the spiritual realms. :)

I really pray that what we do in our ministry is not in vain.

So once again I ask - Are you a threat?
